Sit properly, the pastor can't concentrate

How great is our God, sing with me how great is our... yeah that's called worship hour in church. At this point we fold our hands and raise them in the air and eyes focused on the rail bars, other eyes on the bulbs and others closed. This is how we worship the Lord on Sundays. Well at this point if a foreigner walked in they will be amazed at how holistic we are.
Soreh, soreh, soreh sana...I should have said 'Hi to you first, and apologize for not posting of late (I was unwell and my silent corner was noisy'. Am back...

Anyway..as I was saying earlier, church is a very holy place where we go to worship and honor our Lord God. It is a place that should be respected at all times. We've already changed these to something unacceptable to God. We've turned it into another Sodom & Gomorrah...aki the day God will strike sniffer dogs will not come to our rescue. There are so many things we do in church that have made me write this up...I will not post all of them but just a few....It will be interesting to know the feeling of the victims/actors of such acts. Ready?...Lets Go.

1. Dressing Code
While we were in shagz our parents bought us clothes (and for those whose parents couldn't afford, they would get donations from aunties and uncles). Such clad would be sorted and you would be told this one is for christmas, this one is for Sunday school. Your Sunday school clad would not fit for that day if they would in any way try to expose your rare and front private gadgets. If so you would be told you lacked respect. It's a fact and simple as that. People need to dress appropriately. Why would you come to church with exposed boobs, embarrassing tight pants, a dolly's mini-skirt?? Dress like that to parties or wherever but not to church...wait...why don't you dress like that to work. You respect your boss and disobey God. (Assumption - we are not devil worshipers! lol). It's such people who also have a tendency of coming to church late when the sermon is on, and they leave before its over and start hovering around the church compound. You simply come to church to seek attention and probably you read in a magazine that the best men are in church. A note to you ''when they (best men) see you, they cry in their hearts''. Note number 2: if you want us to like you and your belongings including your behaviors most of us are on facebook and twitter take photos of yourself post them and we will like them when you forcefully tag us, or simply DON'T COME TO CHURCH. Respect God, don't make the servant of God to divert his attention when he is serving the almighty God. Hate me like me, that's my two cents! Got it?

2. ''Forced to Church''
Two Sundays ago I was in church and minutes after the service I went for a church talk moderated by Michael Oyier (the group is called Parklands baptist church - Young professionals). It was just before the talk started that I spotted someone with a newspaper, and huh! something struck my mind. There are those fellows who carry newspapers in the sermon room. Such guys will have no shame reading the newspaper during worship and sermon time. Their faces are usually very hard...eish you would think they are security agents. So I mentioned to my cousin about it and how irritating it is. She told me something very interesting...where she got that ...only God knows. She told me...''most of the time you will find these are men who are forced to drop their wives and kids to church, and since they are supposed to pick them after the service, they are forced to stay on'' GFF! (Ghai fa fa/Oh my God). You and those others who I don't know why they carry newspapers in church....should know one thing...churches nowadays are high-tech and they provide screens in church to keep you busy, and also we do have bulletins that you can peruse through...who knows sometimes you can spot a business idea from that bulletin. Do this: LEAVE THAT NEWSPAPER IN THE CAR! If you don't have a car, SIT ON IT.

3.Facebooking and Tweeting in Church
Technology has changed at a very fast rate and majority of people at least own an internet enabled phone. Yes, and we want to show each other what we can do with our gadgets e.g. twitpic, check-ins, real-time tweeting etc. Well, it is good and we all do these stuff for different reasons. But wait....Location and time matters. I have no problem with you tweeting within the church premises provided its not during church service.

I do understand that nowadays you can read your bible on your iGadget. No problem at all. There is a particular group of people, they get to church and first thing is to unleash the phone and start tweeting all through the service. You are not paying attention to the pastor. The annoying bit is when the pastor says ''Tell your neighbor you are in a holy place'' hehhehe your 'phoney' neighbor will not even here that and if you afford to tell that to them, you will hear ''sorry...excuse me''...this is where you just say ...no its okay..and you tell yourself ''am the only one in church who doesn't have a neighbor, but am fine''.

I am not saying am that perfect, of course have we have our weaknesses too but lets not take somethings overboard. I know some of you probably are happy because I didn't mention that thing you do in church...nakujua...sneezing without covering your nose, stepping on your neighbors, occupying too much space on the bench, looking at the ushers with bad eyes, walking out just before tithe and offerings hour, eating crisps in church, taking photos aimlessly, stealing people's valuables in church yes and that one which you do that I haven't mentioned.

The aim of doing this was just to help each other, it is very important that we respect our places of worship. Jesus was very upset when He found hawkers doing business in church. He turned tables and chased them away. Order in church is a good thing, some people will lose their concentration the moment they spot some of these stuff. Lets all accept that we go to church to give thanks to Him who has taken care of us all week, and in return receive a blessing.

After all that read...you mean you cant sow a seed?....hehehe.

Have a great weekend, and see y'all in church on Sunday.

Aki Ernest......!
